Dear Friends. This is the fourth of a six-part series based on Randy Alcorn’s book The Treasure Principle: Unlocking the Secret of Joyful Giving. We are reading this book at Holy Trinity Winchester during the Lenten season but it is by no means essential to read it in order to benefit from this series. The purpose of the series is to listen carefully to the teachings of Jesus on money and possessions and to learn how to approach these things as his disciples.

In this third session, we ask why it is that we often find it so hard to give. How might it change things if we really believed that heaven is our home? What does it mean to live for eternity and not for the present moment? And how can we overcome the tyranny of materialism in our own hearts?
